Highlights
In the SOCIEUX+ metapapers, we synthesise knowledge on current policies, interventions or approaches, and their outcomes for beneficiaries, derived from technical cooperation cases carried out by the EU Facility SOCIEUX+ in collaboration with its partners around the world over the last few years. The aim is to inform and inspire policy makers and stakeholders.
This meta-paper examines the interaction between social protection and the three other pillars of the Decent Work Agenda: employment creation, labour rights, and social dialogue. Key insights include the potential of well-designed social protection measures to contribute to improved labour market outcomes and worker well-being. Additionally, integrating active labour market policies with income support proves particularly effective in strengthening pathways to decent work. Beyond employment, social protection can play an important role in reducing workers’ vulnerability to exploitation, including child labour and unsafe working conditions, while also fostering labour rights compliance. Social dialogue, in turn, contributes to the development of inclusive social protection policies, ensuring diverse representation, and making systems more responsive to socio-economic changes. Overall, the paper highlights the relevance of strategies that maximize synergies between social protection and the other pillars of the Decent Work Agenda.
