The impact of COVID-19 and response on the European Union Labour Market

The COVID-19 crisis is having long-term employment and social security effects on employers and workers worldwide, as well as on the methods and means of intervention of public actors and social partners, even after the pandemic will be under control.

This report presents a number of primary support measures to businesses and workers taken by EU member states in their early and medium-term response to the crisis, such as policies and practices to retain work, protect the workers or support business continuity. The report outlines governance changes in the delivery of employment services and the increasing importance of digitalisation on labour markets. It concludes with suggestions on fostering knowledge transfer and sharing experiences between EU and its partner countries.
